Understanding Criminal Intelligence and Risk Analysis Across Disciplines, Space, and Time

Thu, Nov 14, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Foothill B - 2nd Level

Abstract

Throughout my time at Rutgers SCJ I sought a thorough understanding of criminal intelligence and risk analysis. It was during this time that I recognized the importance of a ‘360 degree’ view of the problem, and especially, the addition of spatial analysis. I was driven by the gaps (and errors in some cases) in data sources and risk analysis tools. These tools often utilized either a qualitative or quantitative perspective, rarely incorporating a mixed approach, with very few incorporating spatial assessments at all. The breadth of my work ran the discipline gamut from criminological, political, epidemiological, public health, and geography, to name a few. This work and the support I received from Rutgers School of Criminal Justice heavily influenced my path and made it possible for me to conduct the work I do today in the corporate world ensuring the safety and security for assets and personnel across the globe.
