I examine the linkage between worker identity salience of people with criminal records and their social relations in several non-governmental organizations in the U.S. Identity salience is the likelihood an individual activates an identity. There are around 200 participants to be studied for six months starting in October 2023, through participant observation and surveys. Preliminary findings from participant observation show that the close relationship between individuals with criminal records and the NGO staff members, facilitates the development of a salient worker identity. Close relationship between an NGO and its partner organizations also impacts worker identity salience positively.
