Abstract

This presentation provides an overview of the Michigan Data Landscape 2.0 Report, which was funded by the Public Welfare Foundation and Michigan Justice Fund. The first section of this presentation summarizes the landscape of the criminal/legal and youth justice systems in Michigan using recent publicly available data. The second section reviews changes in jail bookings across 12 counties in Michigan following policy changes from the Michigan Joint Task Force on Jail & Pretrial Incarceration. The third section shifts to youth justice with a case study evaluation of the implementation of the Youth Assessment and Screening Instrument™ (YASI) in one large, urban county. Finally, the fourth section reviews state-wide efforts made toward integrating Michigan’s criminal/legal data infrastructures.
