FASTT Jail Reentry Diversion Program Handbook

Fri, Nov 15, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Salon 10 - Lower B2 Level

Abstract

People incarcerated in local jails often experience behavioral health challenges that impact their ability to live in community and are often released from incarceration without connections to much needed support and services. Forensic Assessment Services Triage Team (FASTT) programs in Nevada work with people while they are incarcerated in local jails to set them up for successful reentry. Unlike prison reentry programs, FASTT has limited time to work with clients. While these programs have been in operation for over a decade, the idea of the program was spread to different counties and grew into full programs in the absence of a definitive program structure. The FASTT handbook has undergone extensive stakeholder review, and reflects a collaborative effort between evaluators, regional coordinators, program managers, and program staff. This resource provides a streamlined program description detailing the operations of multiple FASTT programs across the state, serves as a guide for future program development and evaluation, and as a training tool for new staff joining existing FASTT programs, and finally. In addition to information about the daily operations of the program, this resource includes information about the Risk-Needs-Responsivity model, the Sequential Intercept Model, and Harm Reduction strategies, which inform the program model.
