AltAc: A 101 Overview of Career Spaces

Abstract

A practicing scholar embedded in a non-profit research firm will share an overview of the world of alternative academic careers. They will unpack six notable industry spaces and define key factors about the space including: pace, type of research roles (i.e., methodologist or generalists), typical compensation, key audiences and types of deliverables. They will also discuss the day-to-day pace of work and share key skills for each of those spaces. Over the course of the discussion, audience members will have a better understanding of the various AltAc industry spaces and their key features.
