This talk explores the use of automobility to criminalise and colonise First Nations people in Australia and Canada. From the late twentieth century First Nations drivers were targeted by police and stereotyped by courts to assure their incarceration. At its apex, this manifested in a necroautomobility in which the police chase was a site for deaths in custody.
