This lightning talk will briefly define what experiential learning is and provide examples of high-impact practices for experiential learning for CJ majors. Experiential learning can have a profound impact on students studying criminal justice. Rather than solely relying on traditional lectures and textbooks, experiential learning engages students in hands-on, real-world experiences that deepen their understanding of the criminal justice system and its complexities. Here are some potential impacts of experiential learning for criminal justice majors: real-world application, professional development, critical thinking skills, problem-solving, community engagement and ethical awareness. Overall, experiential learning plays a crucial role in preparing criminal justice majors for the challenges and responsibilities they will face in their future careers.
