Translational and Implementation of Research Evidence on Terrorism and Targeted Violence Domestically and Internationally

Abstract

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science & Technology Directorate (S&T) is the research and evaluation arm of the DHS. As such, DHS S&T funds research and evaluation to build the evidence base on many aspects terrorism and targeted violence. In addition to funding foundational research, S&T also funds translational research on implementing research from academia into actionable guidance for the field. This presentation will discuss efforts to create the evidence base such as our funding of data collection efforts, systematic reviews, and landscape assessments as well as our implementation research efforts examining risk assessment, threat assessments and program evaluations. This presentation will also discuss our international collaborations to harness research evidence.
