iven the ongoing crisis in criminology, it is essential to examine each theoretical approach for reproducibility of findings and false positive results. With noted issues in psychology, developmental criminology may exhibit similar problems. Z-curve analysis can be used to estimate the risk of false positive results and likelihood of replication statistically. We use a series of z-curve analyses to estimate the reproducibility and risk for false positive results in the developmental literature drawing from a recent meta-analysis of social cognition on adult criminal outcomes. Much like other criminological theories, social lcognition exhibits a low probability of replication and high risk of false positive results. We explore the implications of these findings for the social cognition and developmental literature as well as the field as a whole.
