Exploring shootings and net café problems in San Bernardino

Abstract

San Bernardino has a notorious reputation as one of the most dangerous cities in California. One of the new emerging trends includes net cafés, which are locations posed as legitimate businesses that discretely cater to illegal activities that benefit gangs including, the exchange of firearms and narcotics. This study analyzes 2024 data involving shootings and closed net cafés to provide the San Bernardino Police Department with recommendations and strategies how to deploy their Focused Intelligence Rapid Enforcement (FIRE) teams.
