This talk outlines a traveling art installation project designed to engage public audiences in Alabama in questions surrounding the policy and practice of capital punishment. "The Art of Resistance: Documenting Alabama's Death Row" is traveling to both traditional spaces (art galleries, universities) and non-traditional spaces (church fellowship halls) in an effort to immerse Alabamians in a system of punishment that is often used but not often discussed. I will share how I developed this collaborative project with a community-based artist as well as with people currently on Alabama's death row; I will also share photographs of the project and discuss its impact on audiences and participants.
