The school-to-prison pipeline represents the removal of children from the classroom and transition into the criminal justice system. While the school-to-prison pipeline has been prominent for years, there has yet to be a clear and established cause. The current research study aims to determine how disciplinary techniques within schools enhance the possibility of entering the criminal justice system and determine which demographic of children are most at risk. The study will use data from The High School Longitudinal Study, 2009-2013 (ICPSR 36423) to test the hypotheses. Overall, the findings from this study will further our understanding of what factors continue to contribute to the school-to-prison pipeline.
