Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the United States has remained a target for various terrorist networks. While the U.S. government has managed to control physical violence within the country, terrorists have shifted to using cyberspace to commit crimes such as identity theft, disrupting military operations, and stealing government data. This study examines trends in attacks by different terrorist networks in the U.S. from 2019 to 2023. It explores the motivations behind these attacks and the methods of individual recruitment from a conflict theoretical perspective. Using secondary data from multiple sources, this study analyzes the types of attacks over time. Policy implications include the need to develop robust cybersecurity measures, create models to identify and track cyberattacks, and strengthen U.S. cyberspace to ensure the safety of Americans.
