In Latin America, and in the United States, projects and initiatives that promise the use of data and artificial intelligence to improve the decisions made in the justice sector are becoming increasingly common. However, the materialization and impact of these tools are not always clear. This discussion will present the progress of ROMA, a tool designed in the Colombian Prosecutor's Office to support the decisions of prosecutors in the decision making process on security measures. It will also discuss the results of its evaluation, which includes both qualitative observation of the way in which prosecutors make these decisions and the results of the quasi-experimental implementation of the tool. Based on this information, the benefits and limitations that this type of solution can actually bring to prosecutors' decision making will be discussed, taking into account the institutional conditions of the region.
