Sexual violence, particularly on college campuses, has long been a critical issue at hand for educational institutions and reflects broader societal patterns of gender-based violence. There is concern that prevention efforts insufficiently address the needs of marginalized groups on campus who may experience higher rates of sexual violence. This study utilized focus groups with LatinX-identifying students to investigate the ways Latinx culture and identity can inform sexual violence prevention efforts. This interactive focus group setting provided the opportunity to explore complex cultural and social phenomena collaboratively. Findings indicate that LatinX students are navigating a generational shift related to gender norms and expectations, sometimes linked to acculturation in the U.S., which has implications for sexual violence prevention.
