Abstract

Abstract: The digital transformation of society is transforming the criminal justice system. The widespread introduction of technological advancements has both facilitated new modes and methods for perpetrating crimes, such as harassment, abuse, and other criminal behaviors as well as providing opportunities to enhance criminal justice procedures and practice, such as investigations, courtroom processes, victim services and forensic analysis. During this panel, NIJ scientists will discuss NIJ funded research which aims to utilize technology, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to advance crime and justice issues, assist victims, and expand forensic evidence.
