An appraisal of farm theft in Nigeria

Abstract

By far, theft has consistently remained the most commonly reported crime in Nigeria and in rural areas, farm produce are the most frequently stolen items. This presentation highlights the patterns of farm theft using a victimisation survey from rural Nigeria. To address the farm theft problem in the country, the police must increase their presence across rural Nigeria and work hard to regain confidence of the citizens.
