Gene Carte Student Paper Award

Abstract

The Gene Carte Student Paper Award (Sponsored by Wiley Publishing Co.) is given to recognize outstanding scholarly work of students. The Carte Award Committee reviews entries according to criteria such as the quality of the conceptualization, significance of the topic, clarity and aptness of methods, quality of the writing, command of relevant work in the field, and contribution to criminology.

1st Place - Title: "Toronto's Drug Policy Paradox: Harm Reduction Sites versus Drug Arrests in Toronto Neighborhoods (1992-2020)" by Taylor Domingos, Northwestern University

2nd Place - Title: "Noncitizen Punishment: Regional and National Origin as Stratification Mechanisms" by Avery Warner, University of Wisconsin-Madison

3rd Place - Title: "Competitive To a Degree: Does Employer Educational Attainment Impact Assessments of College Credentials Earned in Prison?" by Abby Ballou, Northeastern University
