Abstract/Description

This thematic panel brings together the authors of four recently published books focused on policing in the United States: The Policing Machine (Tony Cheng), The Minneapolis Reckoning (Michelle S. Phelps), The Danger Imperative (Michael Sierra-Arévalo), and Before the Badge (Samantha J. Simon). Cutting across subfields that include culture, organizations, race, gender, reform, and local politics, these four books provide rich, sociological contributions to inform contemporary policing research across social science disciplines.
