Session Submission Summary

Roundtable: Challenges and Opportunities for Engaging Practitioners and Academics in Global Policing Networks

Wed, Nov 13, 5:00 to 6:20pm, Salon 7 - Lower B2 Level - Area 4

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract/Description

In addressing contemporary global crime and criminal justice challenges, collaboration is essential on a global, meso, and micro level, particularly for law enforcement personnel. A notable issue is the disparity between policy in practice and empirically/theoretically informed approaches. Key challenges involve differing language, institutional priorities, and the necessity for effective communication channels. This roundtable aims to bridge the theory-practice gap by convening academics and law enforcement personnel from diverse countries to explore challenges and opportunities for improved policy implementation. It will also introduce The International Journal of Police Science (IJPS) which serves as a platform for sharing best practices, research findings, and real-world experiences, fostering a dialogue that contributes to advancing global policing strategies.
