This thematic panel spans jail and prison systems to consider the role of correctional policies and experiences. The panel explores prison visitation as a producer of custodial and post-release antisocial behaviors, the role of jail-based substance dependence programs in reducing general and drug-related recidivism, and the impact of decarceration on persons who remain inside correctional facilities. Implications for local and state jail and prison systems are discussed.
