Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
The Bureau of Justice Statistics’ (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is the nation's primary source of information on criminal victimization. Each year, data are obtained from a nationally representative sample of about 240,000 persons in about 150,000 households. Persons are interviewed on the frequency, characteristics, and consequences of criminal victimization in the United States. This annual conference panel will provide a variety of updates for NCVS data users and researchers, including NCVS redesign updates and a discussion of recently released BJS statistical publications and products. Panelists will also discuss findings from recent research on personal financial fraud among older adults and utilizing victim service assistance after experiencing a violent victimization.
