The increase in computing capacity and the emergence of millions of data points have led to exploring the use of machine learning techniques and other Artificial Intelligence methods to improve decision-making in criminal justice. The panel "AI in Criminal Justice: Empirical and Normative Perspectives" will analyze the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and the criminal justice system, offering different viewpoints from both empirical and normative lenses. Research addressing various aspects related to this topic will be presented, such as the collection of open data for law enforcement purposes or the detection of toxicity on live streaming platforms. Through these presentations, the panel aims to examine the challenges, opportunities, and considerations that arise in integrating AI into justice.
