One of the hallmarks of the BJA’s Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) is innovatively using technology, intelligence, and data to focus resources strategically. This panel showcases SPI initiatives from four sites (Miami, FL, Tallahassee, FL, Amarillo, TX, and Davenport, IA) that utilized various technologies and approaches to facilitate data-driven responses to problems. A theme throughout this panel includes using centralized data analysis to achieve measurable benefits, including reduced response times, enhanced officer safety, increased investigative effectiveness, and overall crime reduction.
