To address high levels of violence, the City of Oakland has implemented multiple strategies to prevent violence among those at the highest risk, provide services to survivors and their families, and promote community healing and restoration. The Urban Institute is conducting process and outcome evaluations of multiple strategies led by the Oakland Department of Violence Prevention. This panel will describe findings related to the impact of community-building events, the process of serving survivors of gender-based violence, and a new family coaching model.
