Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
This panel includes authors who have conducted international research on the topics of rural crime and safety. They are part of a large project that is led by Vania Ceccato and Alistair Harkness, in which researchers assessed rural residents' attitudes about crime and victimization, safety and fear, practices of policing and police trust, and crime prevention practices. Six of the research team members will present results from surveys in the United States, Kenya, Chile, India, Sweden, and Poland (including their data/methods, results, conclusions, and jurisdictional comparisons for each). All have contributed chapters to a forthcoming book that presents data and analysis for 17 jurisdictions across the globe, followed by comparative analyses of themes across countries/jurisdictions.
