Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
Crime trends data available to criminologists has grown in the last several years. For instance, the retirement of the UCR’s Summary Reporting System with NIBRS has increased agency participation, thereby increasing the national coverage of detailed crime incident information. This panel features four papers that rely on different sources of crime data to identify recent trends in violent and property crime. Overall, the papers highlight the need for criminologists to be familiar with multiple data sources and methodologies to analyze crime trends from the neighborhood to national levels.
