This session examines how the proliferation of digital social media influences gangs, violence, and deviant behavior. Individual papers unpack the relationship between online aggression and offline violence, investigate how shootings “echo” in digital spaces, assess the online processes of gang recruitment, trace the patterns and control of deviance and conflict, and develop general concepts and theories for future research on the topic.
