This session examines consequential transitions related to gangs and collective illegal behavior. Individual papers investigate initiation processes and the development of co-offender networks, the transferability of gang-related skills to non-gang contexts, mechanisms of disengagement and “gang exit,” effects of employment on gang membership, and the risks of victimization across the life course.
