Abstract/Description

This roundtable session will engage in critical discussion on several important issues confronting American policing. Roundtable panelists will each discuss underpinning issues such as the intersection of race and policing, and strategies focusing on how the police might be able to gain trust and legitimacy in historically marginalized communities they serve. Panelists will also discuss the role of recruitment, selection, and training of neophyte and veteran police officers in facilitating systematic changes in police departments.
