Roundtable: Learning from Diverse Researcher-Victim Service Practitioner Partnership Models

Thu, Nov 14, 8:00 to 9:20am, Sierra G - 5th Level

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract/Description

The Center for Victim Research (CVR) is a national resource center that seeks to improve the evidence base for victim services by supporting collaboration between researchers and practitioners. Researcher-practitioner collaboration can take many forms, with different benefits, challenges, and resources required. Join this Division of Victimology (DOV)-Sponsored roundtable to learn from researchers who have successfully partnered with practitioners on victimization-focused studies through different models, including PAR (Participatory Action Research), CBPR (Community Based Participatory Research), convening practitioner consortiums and/or peer learning events. We will engage the audience in a discussion about these processes and outcomes, with the goal of identifying and barriers to productive collaboration. We will also share available CVR resources to help researchers connect and partner with victim service practitioners in their work.
