This roundtable explores the complexities of colorism and its impact on individuals' interactions with the criminal justice system. Drawing on our research project, "Colorism and Eduardo Bonilla Silvia's Tri-racial Hierarchy: An Empirical Study," we examine how skin color influences experiences within the criminal justice system, particularly regarding arrest, prosecution, and sentencing. By discussing our findings within the context of Bonilla-Silva's Tri-racial hierarchy, we aim to shed light on the intricacies of racial and color inequality and systemic bias. Our research contributes to advancing equity and fairness in the criminal justice system by offering insights that can inform policies and practices, such as sentencing guidelines and bias training for legal professionals.
