Abstract/Description

This roundtable discussion will focus on the emerging challenges and opportunities within the field of criminology, particularly in the application of innovative methodologies and advanced technologies. Participants will engage in a critical analysis of how cutting-edge tools such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics are reshaping research, policymaking, and law enforcement. The session will cover the integration of these technologies in developing predictive models, enhancing forensic techniques, and utilizing computational social science methods and machine learning for more accurate crime analysis and prevention strategies. Further discussions will explore the deployment of sophisticated biometric technologies and the role of cyber-technological tools in combating cybercrime. Through collaborative dialogue, the roundtable will examine case studies exemplifying successful technology applications, confront the practical challenges faced, and discuss ways to overcome these barriers with the aim of enriching the academic community, diversifying the field, and decolonizing teaching practices.
