Roundtable: 30 Years of Research Under the Violence Against Women Act: Where Do We Go?

Wed, Nov 13, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Salon 7 - Lower B2 Level - Area 1

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract/Description

The Violence Against Women Act of 1994 has led to the proliferation of research regarding domestic and intimate partner violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking across the federal government. This body of work has included basic research on causes and correlates of gender-based violence; rigorous evaluations of programs, policies, and practices designed to reduce violence against women; and examinations of the role of criminal legal systems in addressing these crimes. As a major supporter of violence against women research, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is taking stock of where we have been and contemplating what’s next for our research agenda.
Join us for this roundtable discussion on where NIJ should be headed. We want the hear from you!
