Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
The R3 Restore. Reinvest. Renew program developed as part of legislation legalizing cannabis in Illinois has been fundamental in identifying and supporting communities that have been marginalized, characterized by high rates of violence, incarceration, and poverty. As part of grant funding processes, community-based research partnerships featuring an emphasis on both evaluation research and service delivery have become an innovative priority in this type of programming. This roundtable highlights areas in which community-based research partnerships have developed, including the broad targets and goals of R3, how partnerships are formed, strategies and obstacles in conducting research in these settings, benefits of these types of partnerships, and overall discussion of the granting and evaluation processes for targeted funding and programming. In recognizing and understanding the development and nature of relationships between community agencies, funding agencies, and researchers, the goals of this roundtable are aimed to discuss and inform strategies to sustain and strengthen service delivery for community-based programming.
