Adolescence is described as a dynamic, vigorous, and defiant period, yet also a vulnerable one. Youth undergo dramatic physical, psychological, and environmental changes. Focusing on these changes, some criminologists have attempted to explain why or how juveniles become involved in deviant behaviors. However, few studies have explored how these significant changes relate to strain, which can drive youth to take deviant behavior. Therefore, this study aims to examine youth delinquency through the lens of general strain theory, with a particular focus on the life-course perspective. Data from South Korea is analyzed, and theoretical and policy implications will be discussed.
