This study examines the impact of New Jersey's Residential Community Release Programs (RCRPs) on recidivism. RCRPs offer structured reentry support as an alternative to incarceration for medium- and high-risk individuals. Employing a propensity score matching design, the study compares recidivism rates over a three-year follow-up period for RCRP participants and a matched control group who did not participate in the program. Results indicate a statistically significant reduction in recidivism for RCRP participants. These findings suggest that RCRPs may offer a cost-effective approach to lowering recidivism and promoting successful community reintegration.
