There is an ongoing debate within the military regarding the value of energy drinks and other caffeine-based products among personnel. Although caffeine can enhance performance under certain conditions, it may also have adverse effects on a servicemember's duties. It is likely that specific military experiences significantly influence the frequency and volume of caffeine consumption. The Army Study to Assess Risk and Resilience in Servicemembers (STARRS) dataset offers a unique opportunity to investigate the impact of various caffeine delivery methods—including energy drinks, shots, and gums—on active-duty Army soldiers. Utilizing advanced regression techniques, this research seeks to examine outcomes associated with caffeine use and to explore how military experiences may shape these consumption patterns. Policy implications will also be discussed.
