The recognition and implementation of victims' rights in South and Southeast Asia demonstrate significant inconsistencies, due to variations in legal practices, enforcement mechanisms, and socio-political structures. While International frameworks promote victims' access to justice, compensation, and support, systemic barriers continue to exist impeding their implementation in many countries in the subregion. The primary purpose of this study is to provide a comparative analysis of victims' rights legislation in South and Southeast Asia, and to discuss major legal provisions and the challenges regarding their implementation. This study addresses legal pluralism, limited access to restitution, inadequate victim participation, and ineffective institutional mechanisms. Recommendations for enhancing protection and guaranteeing victims' rights are provided.
