This randomised control trial examines the impact of an Introduction to Investigations (I2I) training course on police officers, with a specific focus on gender differences. The first study (Newman et al., 2023) explores the impact of I2I on investigative knowledge, confidence, and perceptions of promotability. The second study (Newman & Bennett, 2025a) investigates the influence of I2I on work performance, measured by arrests, case clearance rates, and case resolution times. The third study (Newman & Bennett, 2025b) examines the impact of I2I on case allocation and the timeliness of allocations, considering potential gender biases in these processes. The final study (Newman et al., 2025) assesses the long-term impact of I2I on promotion outcomes, accounting for factors such as gender, age, years of service, and leave patterns. This research provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of investigative training, potential gender disparities in policing, and the complex interplay of factors that influence officer performance and career advancement. The presentation discusses key findings of each study, highlighting implications for promoting gender equity and improving police effectiveness. The presentation will offer recommendations for police organisations seeking to enhance their training, address potential biases in promotion processes, and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
