Successfully disengaging individuals from violent extremism and supporting their reintegration into society is a critical challenge in the United States. This project aimed to serve as a resource for community supervision officers managing individuals convicted of violent extremism-related offenses. Drawing on academic research, expert surveys, interviews, and practitioner workshops, it provides guidance on identifying extremist cases, assessing risk, and implementing supervision strategies that balance public safety with reintegration support. We highlight the role of supervision officers in connecting individuals to resources that facilitate their transition away from extremism. Finally, we emphasize training opportunities to enhance officers’ ability to manage this population effectively, ensuring both public safety and successful rehabilitation.
