Maltreatment, CSEC, and Child Welfare: Considerations for Deaf Service Providers and Community Members

Abstract

This session will discuss the issue of child maltreatment of Deaf children and adolescents, including Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) or sex trafficking. This presentation will address risk factors, victim identification, and trauma-informed interventions. The presentation will also discuss barriers to reporting and intervention, including communication access and reporting, language deprivation, awareness and education in schools, and accessibility of services.
