Since 2017, German law has allowed courts to impose a criminal driving ban not only for traffic-related offenses but also for offenses entirely unrelated to road traffic. This poster presents key findings from an evaluation of this legal development. It covers both the theoretical scope of application and the underlying penal theory considerations, as well as essential empirical results. The empirical analysis is based on evaluations of data from the Federal Central Criminal Register and a nationwide survey conducted within the German criminal justice system. The aim of the poster presentation is to provide a comprehensive overview of driving bans imposed for non-traffic-related offenses and to encourage discussion on this topic.
