The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) has been examining potential revisions to the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) that would broaden the NCVS’s ability to capture cybercrime victimization. Expanding on the initial research and recommendations for revision to the measurement of cybercrime in the NCVS, BJS, in collaboration with Westat, has been investigating the feasibility of updating and adding measures of cybercrime to several NCVS supplements. This presentation will include an overview of these efforts, discuss recent research and testing efforts, including question design and findings from cognitive testing, and potential plans for the implementation of any new measures of cybercrime.
