This paper explores the potential of green criminology in shaping effective correctional programs in Polish correctional facilities. The work is based on the experiences of selected penitentiary institutions that implement green rehabilitation programs. Examples of such programs will be discussed, including their main assumptions and the therapeutic and rehabilitative benefits resulting from the use of natural environments in social reintegration. The implementation of these programs aligns with the concept of “green prison” which aims to create a more sustainable and humane penitentiary system by integrating environmental considerations into correctional practices.
