Dr. Chaple began his career at National Development and Research Institutes, a private non-profit research organization, conducting NIH field research examining the impact of evidence-based practices for the treatment of substance use disorders among individuals involved with the criminal justice system. The intent was to gain applied research experience while pursuing his PhD part-time at Rutgers to facilitate a career as a Principal Investigator. Dr. Chaple has taught as an adjunct professor at St. John's University and currently holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, but maintains a full portfolio of federally and privately funded grants via the non-profit sector as his primary source of employment.
