Misogyny and Criminal Thinking in a Sample of Men Convicted of IPV

Fri, Nov 14, 8:00 to 9:20am, Independence Salon H - M4

Abstract

The study investigated the association between criminal thinking and misogyny in a sample of men convicted of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The study aimed to identify both emotional and cognitive components of misogyny. Further, the study examined a possible theory integration between macro theories of misogyny and micro theories of criminal thinking. The study found that criminal thinking was significantly associated with misogyny among men convicted of IPV. The findings indicated that focusing on both misogyny and criminal thinking may contribute to the rehabilitation of men involved in the criminal legal system following an IPV conviction.
