Previous gun violence studies have found that the incidents tend to concentrate in small geographical areas, where there is much location-to-location variation that can confound these studies. Many factors and policies that could impact rates of gun violence, however, are implemented or experienced at the county or state levels. Therefore, we examine the 2023 gun violence archive dataset to understand the differences in socioeconomic factors associated with gun violence incidents across the U.S. regions. We will employ hierarchical regression modeling, data mining, and machine learning techniques to explore the clustering of different types of gun violence.
