The Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) is a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) agency responsible for administering the nation’s immigration courts. A core responsibility is the adjudication of immigration cases including hearings to determine removability and asylum status as well as appeals of immigration judge rulings. In 2024, EOIR entered into an agreement with the DOJ Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) to process data and report statistics on immigration court outcomes. This presentation describes the capabilities of a new BJS data series that permits analysis of case types, respondent characteristics, court caseloads, and outcomes from fiscal years 2018 to 2023. It highlights efforts to standardize the data to improve uniformity over time. Plans for the data series include the addition of the data to a visualization tool and to a data archive to permit access for research and statistical purposes.
