Objective: Longitudinal data is crucial to our understanding of the causes, patterns, and consequences of criminal behavior. The collection of longitudinal data, while not only expensive, requires extensive commitment from researchers over a long period of time. It is for these reasons that many longitudinal data sets do not extend beyond a few years or only capture a portion of the life course. Methods: This presentation will discuss the methodologies employed in an ongoing extension of the National Evaluation of the GREAT Program. Specifically, we will explore the mobility of the sample, data collection methodologies (e.g., open source, survey, and credit records), as well as lessons learned throughout the process. Relevant to this panel, we will explore the access and use of financial records.
